Born in Canada, but raised in Los Angeles in the heart of the entertainment industry, I come to this field with unique personal experiences of the world and of people. As a child I grew up surrounded by artists, intellectuals, and creatives, which nurtured in me a deeply open mind, a thirst for knowledge, and a desire for meaningful connection with others. I bring a sense of creativity and openness to the art of clinical counselling, allowing me to be flexible in my use of modalities with each unique client.
My own personal journey of healing and recovery has led me to this career. When there were many doors open to me, it was becoming a counsellor that felt like the best way for me to give to others what had been given to me: a sense of safety, trust, and understanding. My own personal relationships with trusted mental health professionals have allowed me to see the power of attachment and the healing and reparative potential of the therapeutic relationship.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I earned my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in Los Angeles where I received specialized training in addiction, trauma, anxiety, and the unique struggles of people in the LGBTQIA+ community. I have worked in residential treatment centres, outpatient clinics, and community mental health centres in the US and Canada as well as providing sober companion services in California. I have also worked to develop DBT and skills training programs and mindfulness programs for recognized national mental health providers.
